DNR Lake Michigan Coastal Program accepting grant requests

August 15, 2022

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is now accepting grant pre-proposals for its Lake Michigan Coastal Program.

The program will award about $600,000 in grants to projects located in northern Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties that protect and restore habitats, address water quality concerns, implement coastal resiliency measures, acquire “high-quality” land parcels or support environmentally responsible communities.

The grants are open to local governments, state agencies, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.

The LMCP will accept pre-proposals until Oct. 7. Guidance for the forms can be found on the LMCP website.

The program is funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA), Office for Coastal Management.
