EPA receiving applications for grants to remove trash from Great Lakes

January 13, 2021

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking applications for $5 million in grants to remove trash from Great Lakes harbors, river mouths and waterfronts.

The agency is looking to fund 10 large-scale projects as part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, a multi-agency project that provides funding for projects affecting Great Lakes states, with at least $300,000 grants.

The grants will be available to non-federal government entities, nonprofit private agencies and colleges and universities that use mechanical devices, vessels and other technology to remove trash from the Great Lakes.

More information about the grants are available here.
