IDEM awarding grant money for community recycling

October 3, 2019

Schools, nonprofit organizations, solid waste management districts, municipalities and counties are among the entities eligible to submit applications for a Community Recycling Grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.

Applications for grants under $50,000 will be accepted through Dec. 20 and will go toward projects that emphasize education and promotion of recycling, waste reduction, yard waste management, composting and the processing of recyclable materials.

“IDEM is pleased to offer grants to communities and organizations that will increase overall recycling in Indiana while helping to protect the environment," said IDEM Commissioner Bruno Pigott.

Grant funding comes from IDEM’s Solid Waste Management Fund and will go towards programs that demonstrate the potential for longevity and community impact. Cost-effectiveness and a measurable increase in waste diversion will also be taken into account.

Funding decisions will be made in February 2020.
