IDEM community grants available for recycling projects

October 7, 2021

An Indiana Department of Environmental Management program is offering $500,000 in grants for projects that deal with recycling or household hazardous waste collection and disposal.

Counties, municipalities, solid waste management districts, schools and nonprofit organizations can apply for Community Recycling Grants until Oct. 15.

The grants can range from $1,000 to $100,000.

According to IDEM, the projects should focus on education and promotion of recycling, processing of recyclable materials, waste reduction or household hazardous waste and organics management. Applicants must demonstrate a direct or indirect increase in waste diversion as a result of the project.

To apply, or for more information, visit the Indiana Community Recycling Grant Program site. You can also contact the program by calling 800-988-7901 or by email popup:yes.

The final funding determinations will be made in December.
